This hockey fan has been extremely frustrated! The NHL canceled the entire 2004-2005 season because of an owner's lockout of players, and played a shortened 48-game schedule following a lockout in 1994-1995. This season has also suffered a lockout. FINALLY, after a long four months, the NHL and NHL players reached a deal and the hockey schedule will be announced this Friday!
During the lockout I was able to enjoy the sport through my son. He plays for two teams and we are busy almost every weekend. In the past my husband has taken beautiful photos of my son playing. This year he has been helping in the score box, so I haven't been getting those precious photos that I love!
I took some photos but they are no where near the quality that hubby takes.
I will take what I can get though….
just like I will take half of an NHL season over nothing at all!
and now we do the dance of joy!! :)

ReplyDeleteI think they are awesome shots! happy hockey!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Sorry I didn't really miss the hockey and I gave up baseball when they went on strike years ago!
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy, joy, joy here! At least they have a 10-year contract this time. One would hope that they could finally figure out that they're risking the goose that laid the golden egg with all these work stoppages ... but I thought that back in 1995, so I don't hold out much hope. Still, I'm so excited that the puck is going to be dropped soon! Woo hooo!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilary. I am overjoyed about hockey beginning again!
ReplyDeleteBoo Hiss!!! ;-D
ReplyDeleteI thought (while they were on strike) I would not go to the games to support them. Now, I don't know. I'm getting caught up in the excitement and hype… I may give in and go to a game or two.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Mixed feelings about the NHL here... part of me is happy they're back and part of me is still oh-so-mad at them... we'll see how loyal I feel once they hit the ice!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand. I am bitter about the situation as a whole. But the hockey fan in me wants to see that puck drop!
ReplyDeleteYour son is getting great support from both parents. The scheduling can get very crazy which I'm sure you know better than I. Just wondering did fans drop ESPN or whatever hockey channel during the strike?
ReplyDeleteESPN has been showing a lot of college hockey. They will be busy now that the lock out is over.
