Todd's best friend, Eric owns a garden center - Colonial Gardens. Every summer they take a trip to the Pocono mountains and tag Christmas trees. The trees that they tag are then cut and sent to Colonial Gardens in November. This has been an annual tradition between the two for many years.
Because Todd helps Eric tag trees, we get a free Christmas Tree.
Yay!
Todd and I picked out our Christmas tree on Saturday!
I love Fraser Fir trees (which are the most popular sold Christmas tree in the U.S.)
I love the smell of a real tree… I do not like the mess of a real tree.
There is no compromise with Todd though. He refuses to get an artificial tree.
However, I would settle for a small tree decorated with Flyers hockey ornaments. :)
I have heard that real trees smell good! It's artificial all the way here lol Have fun decorating!!
ReplyDeleteWe get Fraser firs ... nothing like a real tree. ;-) We have a couple of Blues ornaments ... and of course some Cardinals ones, too. I can't wait to see your decorated tree.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the whole process and I get why he wants real. I like the flyers ornaments I imagine you have several hockey ones! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI wish we could have a real tree. But one of our cats drinks out of anything and they all eat anything "live" around here. We don't have any indoor plants, either lol
ReplyDeleteWe gave in to getting an artificial tree {and a pine-scented candle!} last CHRISTmas. I like being able to put it up earlier in the season and definitely don't miss the mess! My girls are still adjusting to the idea. Thanks for stopping by. It's been so long since I've been able to blog and visit, I've missed it for sure!
ReplyDeleteIt's a Balsam fir normally that we get. If we don't get one until the week of Christmas, I might go for a White Spruce. I just love the smell of the house once the tree arrives. No candle can quite capture that real smell. And I have a really good vacuum cleaner. haha
ReplyDeleteOr course, our tree will have one lone Montreal Canadiens ornament.....although I may not hang it up this year in protest!!! :)
We picked the first decent looking tree we found in the forest. lol I just love it. It's definitely not perfect, but neither is our family! Hmmmm I feel a blog post coming on...
ReplyDeleteHow I wish we could do this. My kids are so allergic to live trees that if I don't put up the fake one we are ER because of asthma issues. Great Photos!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know pine trees could cause asthma. I have a friend who breaks out in hives if she rubs against the pine needles.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have to blog about your tree hunt into the forest. Sounds like the book "We're going on a bear hunt". LOL
ReplyDeleteI have a separate miniature tree the has all hockey decorations on it. I debated whether or not I should put it up this year. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI've missed your posts and am glad to see you back blogging!
ReplyDeleteWhen we first got our kitten, she would dig and poop in our large potted plant. Luckily it was warm enough outside I could put the plant on the deck. After she got used to the litter, she didn't mess with the plant. Last year she left the tree alone too. Cross my fingers that she doesn't climb it! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have tons of Flyers and hockey ornaments. They have their own special tree. If the NHL continues to have a lockout I may just toss the tree! :(
ReplyDeleteI began putting on the lights this evening, when one entire strand broke. I had to take all the lights off! Grrr! Tomorrow I am going to buy new lights and begin the process again.
ReplyDeleteThey are awesome! A scented candle doesn't give it justice. Why can't you get pine trees in Australia?
ReplyDeleteOh no! That's funny, but I bet it wasn't at the time! I hope she stays away from the tree :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tree. It's going to look beautiful in your home.
ReplyDeleteWe do live trees also! I could cope with a cleaner option, but Hubby won't budge either ;-)
ReplyDeleteYours looks great and free is just AWESOME!! What a neat tradition for Todd!
